Dear Colleagues, Business Partners, and Customers,
We mark our 50th anniversary this month, and as the year comes to a close, I wanted to write a note to you from myself and the executive board to express our gratitude for our collaboration over the last 50 years with ASB.
We started out with a six-person team in December 1967 as a small maintenance facility that could handle small, piston-driven, turboprop and rotary aircraft. Since then, the company has changed owners, names and increased its records for aircraft capabilities.
I rejoined the company in 2004, and I wanted to take the success of the existing maintenance facility one step further.
I wanted to create a ‘one-stop-shop’ like the garages I used to go to on a road trip. If I needed fuel, I would stop for fuel, but I could also get technical support and maybe a bite to eat from a cafe that would guarantee a friendly service with a smile. Even if I would never see that pit-stop again, I was treated as though I had been a life-long friend.
That kind of service had been imprinted in my mind, and I saw a gap in the market to create that friendly, welcoming, local atmosphere here with Air Service Basel. With this vision and new investment, we initiated an expansion into the FBO and handling market, that meant a substantial new construction, and a move to another side of the Euro-Airport.
Today, with the hard work and dedication from all of you, we are a business that enjoys catering to thousands of business aviation clients from all over the world for maintenance, repairs, handling and aircraft management. One of the things that I appreciate about what we’ve built is that even after half a century, we all still really do love what we do.
Even though we are now a team of over 40, we are willing to take the time, whether you are a client, partner or colleague, to personally adapt to your needs and find solutions to your problems. And we rely on many more external companies to support our services too. Without the cooperation from our local and international partners, our business would not have reached the level of success that it has achieved today, so thank you.
I sincerely believe that if we continue to build strong and dedicated relationships, our success can only continue and I am looking forward to developing new partnerships as we engage in new projects in Zürich and Dübendorf.
For the last fifty years, we have kept our main annual goal to strive to be better and 2017 has been no different. With a record number of movements during our most popular week for Art Basel and two new certifications to add to our approval capabilities, I cannot thank my employees enough for their on-going commitment and dedication to this company.
And finally, I want to take a moment to thank the customers who trust in our services personally. For those who come through once a year for regular maintenance, to those who have visited us once or arrive and land more frequently. I hope you will continue to enjoy the service you receive from us for many years to come.
With all of that said, I sincerely wish you and your loved ones a peaceful Christmas break and would like to end with celebratory cheers.
